September - German, of course, for “month of weddings”.
Surprisingly, we’ve only had one wedding so far this year. We have friends that have just been bouncing from one wedding to the next. Lucky for us, we only have like 4 friends, and half are married already.
Our dry spell ends this month. Last weekend, Ryan (we’ve worked together at three separate jobs) and Karen got married over Labor Day weekend. It was nice to be able to just go and enjoy a wedding. It was even nicer that it was no more than 10 minutes from our house.
This coming weekend marks the first of Melissa’s weddings. I’m not kidding on that, Melissa has had two of just about everything with her wedding. Two of the past few weekends were occupied by bachelorette parties. That means I spent two of the past few weekends sitting on my couch enjoying the wonderful sounds of silence.
The first of Melissa’s weddings takes place down in Cape Hatteras, NC. You can’t really go wrong with the whole beach theme, and having Meg in the wedding leaves me and my brother-in-law to start drinking at, oh, breakfast. The second wedding, the following Friday night, is not technically a wedding but rather a local reception. The cool part about this is that means Melissa will be wearing her wedding dress twice. Why do I mention that as cool? Because that means she paid an absurd amount of money for a dress that she’ll wear twice, doubling the usefulness that Meg’s dress saw.
The last wedding of the month is the day after Melissa’s second wedding (er, reception). It’s one of Meg’s coworkers that I don’t know well enough to make an obnoxious comment about.
After this month, we have a break, but not a long one. Next year things will start to pick up as Lucas and Michelle’s wedding approaches. Until then, things should be pretty quiet for the holidays.
Unless, of course, one of these prospective buyers actually decides to put in an offer on our house…

Congrats Phil and Melissa !!!!
