We Have a Roller
November 27, 2007

So Leanne’s latest trick is that she can roll from her back to her tummy.  She has been doing this for over a week now and has become completely obsessed with rolling over.  I am all about encouraging her to do new things and to work on her skills but the problem is that she seems to have forgotten that once she is on her tummy she has the ability to roll back to her back.

This has quickly become our new game.  I put Leanne down on the play mat on her back.  A few minutes later I hear her squealing because she doesn’t want to be on her tummy anymore.  I then have to go roll her back over.  This goes on forever.  With all this practice she has become a very good roller.

The worst is at night.   Multiple times every night I hear this squealing over the baby monitor.  I go in Leanne’s room to find her on her belly panting with frustration that she can’t get back on her back.

I would have thought that with as annoyed as she gets being stuck on her belly that she would have some interest in going the other way.  I try to let her work it out herself, but she always ends up just getting pissed off and screaming.

I am anxiously awaiting the day when she can go both ways.  I have visions of Leanne just rolling across the living room floor.  I guess I shouldn’t be too anxious.  I am not all that ready for her to become mobile yet.

You know how it goes two steps forward, one step back ;) She will get the hang of it, all hope it not lost! I did see something that might break up the boredom a bit, and I thought you guys would enjoy it. http://www.elfyourself.com enjoy!
