The Happiest Place on Earth
August 22, 2008

Disney World really is the happiest place on Earth.  Even teething is a pleasant experience there.

Leanne had her two left molars come through while we were down there a few weeks ago and we didn’t even realize it until we got home. She was completely fine, totally happy, and in no apparent pain what-so-ever.

Fast forward to two weeks later… The poor girl is miserable!  She has her two right molars coming in and is the crankiest, fussiest baby ever!  I am thinking that another long weekend in the “happiest place on Earth” might be in order to get us through this round of teething!

Rough Day at the Park

Monday morning Leanne and I headed to the park to meet up with some of the moms and kids in our new play group.  Now that Leanne is a pretty accomplished walker she is loving her freedom.  She loved following around the other kids and was totally in her glory - that was until she fall and hit her face on the cement floor in the picnic area.  She ended up with a few scrapes and a bruise on her face (right near her eye - ugh).  Leanne handled it pretty well.  She hardly even cried.  I think her ego was more bruised then her face.

(with strawberry applesauce dripping from her mouth)

Congratulations Tara and Justin!!!
August 15, 2008

Last weekend my sister Tara and Justin got married in Disney World! The wedding and reception were beautiful and I know that everyone (us included) had a great time.  We’ve added a bunch of pictures to the photogallery.  The ceremony took place right before sunset in a beautiful gazebo overlooking a lake.  The reception was on the lake in Epcot and all of the guests got to enjoy front row seating for Illuminations, Epcot’s lazer light show and fireworks.  It was so cool even Leanne got into it (but crashed from sheer exhaustion not much later).

Congratulations to Tara, Justin and Parker!  I am so glad we could all be part of your special day!!

Travelin’ Girl

Last weekend Jay, Leanne and I headed down to Disney World for my sister Tara’s wedding (congratulations post to follow).  Up until then we had never really traveled with Leanne and she’d never spent a night anywhere other then in our house. Gearing up for the trip both Jay and I were a little nervous about how the whole thing was going to go, but I am happy to say that Leanne was an angel the entire time!  She even came home with three, yes THREE new molars and you’d have never known!

We left last Thursday morning and came back Sunday afternoon.  It was a whirlwind trip, but we had a great time!  Leanne did wonderful on both flights.  She slept for most of them and snacked away the remaining time.  The only “issue” we ran into was sleeping arrangements.  Leanne refused to sleep in the port-a-crib that the hotel provided.  Our first attempt for the three of us to get any sleep was to put Leanne in bed with us.  That lasted all of an hour - until Leanne flipped herself around so that she was sleeping perpendicular between Jay and I.  Needless to say that didn’t work in a queen sized bed.  So the next idea was for Leanne and I to sleep in one of the beds with the bed rails on one side of her me on the other (read: Jay lucked out and got his own bed).  That seemed to work well for the remainder of our stay.

The weather was beautiful - hot, humid, with some pop up thunderstorms each day.  We stayed at the Beach Club Resort which is right on the Disney’s Boardwalk area.  We spent quite a bit of time walking the boardwalk, napping and swimming in the hotel’s amazing pool.  Leanne loved all the attention she received from the Disney Cast Members and especially loved those famous Mickey Mouse Pancakes she had every morning for breakfast.

So now with our first trip behind us we are looking forward to even more travels!

Gallery: Leanne 13 Months
August 4, 2008

Over the weekend, I posted a gallery from the last month. It was a big month with Leanne’s first birthday party, Uncle Eric’s birthday, and her first trip to the beach. We ended up with almost 400 pictures, which is kinda sick when you realize that’s just from one month. And with Leanne’s first plane ride and trip to Florida in August, I’m curious if we’ll break that.
